OATH TAKING OF OFFICIALS FOR THE INQUIRY

01 The EPISCOPAL DELEGATE together with the Members of the Tribunal are gathered around the table prepared in front of the altar. With them are the Members of the Historical and Theological Commissions.
02 The VICE-POSTULATOR introduces the Cause by reading the biography of the candidate saying, “Rev. Monsignor, as Vice-Postulator of these Causes, I humbly ask the process for the Causes of Beatification and Canonization of the SERVANT OF GOD, FRANCISCA DEL ESPIRITU SANTO DE FUENTES, Foundress of the Congregation of Dominican Sisters of St. Catherine of Siena, Philippines”.
03 The EPISCOPAL DELEGATE accepts by saying, “I have examined the appointment of the Postulator and I declare it legitimate. Therefore, Fr. Innocenzo Venchi, OP can act as Postulator in the present Process. I likewise examined the appointment of Fr. Honorato Castigador, OP, Vice-Postulator who will act in the absence of the Postulator.

I now ask the Chancellor of the Archdiocesan Curia to read the document of the Holy See in which the “NIHIL OBSTAT”, is granted in order to begin the Process for the Causes of Beatification and Canonization of SERVANT OF GOD FRANCISCA DEL ESPIRITU SANTO DE FUENTES and the decrees in which his Eminence named the Judge, the Promoter of Justice, the Notaries, the Commission of Experts in History and the Theological Commission”.
04 The CHANCELLOR reads the NIHIL OBSTAT and the APPOINTMENTS OF THE MEMBERS OF THE TRIBUNAL.
05 The EPISCOPAL DELEGATE interrogates each of the members of the Tribunal: Promoter of Justice, Judge Delegate, Associate Judge, First Notary, Second Notary and Experts in History and Theology, if each accepts the duties for which he/she has been named. Upon acceptance, he then reminds them of the great responsibility which they have assumed and the importance and seriousness of the Process for the Causes of Beatification.

06 The POSTULATOR OF THE CAUSES upon the invitation of the Episcopal Delegate swears in faithfully his duty and in avoiding anything that may directly and indirectly compromise the truth and offend justice in fulfilling.
07 Signing of the Oath by the Officials
08 The VICE-POSTULATOR, after making the oath presents to the Episcopal Delegate the list of Witnesses saying: “Rev. Monsignor, I have the honor of presenting the list of witnesses whom I desire of interrogated. I reserve to myself the right of presenting other witness and rejecting some of those indicated in the list.” Then, the Episcopal Delegate and Judge examine the list of witnesses.
09 The JUDGE DELEGATE announces the date and place for the next session saying. “I decree that the next session in order to interrogate the witnesses be held on July 10-11, the year of the Lord, two thousand and three at the conference Room of the Dominican Sisters of St. Catherine of Siena, Generalate House, 127 Sta. Catalina Street, Quezon City, Metro Manila, Philippines. I, likewise, order that citations be made to the Reverend Promoter and that the witnesses be named by the Vice-Postulator”.
10 The EPISCOPAL DELEGATE declares; I, on behalf of His Eminence, order the Chancellor to establish the public record of those things accomplished in this first session. And by virtue of the powers bestowed on me and by those present, we declare the Process of the Causes of Beatification and Canonization of the Servant of God, FRANCISCA DEL ESPIRITU SANTO DE FUENTES, Foundress of the Congregation of Dominican Sisters of St. Catherine of Siena, Philippines, OPEN.
